  • re-sourced

The dumpsters and backroom shelves of flooring outlets accumulate an assortment of surplus flooring materials from discontinued flooring lines, installation leftovers, and old samples. This material source was intercepted and repurposed in the design of Ecoasters. The tile was backed with cork (a sustainably harvested resource) and cut into coasters. While a small number of flooring tiles from a discontinued product line has no value for their original purpose, these scraps make unique sets of Ecoasters - offering new life to materials otherwise heading for the landfill.

  • re-purposed

Once bonded with cork, the tile is cut from a stencil (either a metal die or laser/waterjet cut), maximizing the use of even irregular pieces of material.
