An interactive performance demonstrating the relationship between line and movement. Working with the WWU Dancemakers - a dance troupe that uses dance in elementary schools as a tool to educate children - I developed the use of an overhead projector as a performance element interacting with dance choreographed by director Kathy Pottratz.
Over the course of the 45 minute presentation, various activities involving shape recognition within the negative spaces created by the dancers encouraged audience participation of students ranging from first through fifth grade. In the video, I am seated at the projector in the lower right corner doing a live drawing upside down and backwards (due to the optics of the projector). |
